Dear Youth Delegates,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 UN Youth Environmental Conference.
We are honored to co-host this event alongside the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
and Econow, providing a platform for future environmental leaders to address the climate crisis
and build a sustainable future.
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), founded in 1946, is an international
organization that connects and fosters cooperation with United Nations Associations around
the world.
Our core mission is to promote peace, human rights, and sustainable development. We are actively
engaged in various initiatives aimed at shaping a better future for all. One key area of focus is
supporting diverse educational programs that empower young people to express their views on global
issues. We are committed to helping future leaders like you drive transformative change.
As we enter 2024, we must acknowledge that the climate crisis is no longer a distant threat.
The rapid rise in global temperatures presents an urgent danger to our lives and the environment.
Time is of the essence, and immediate action is required to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Advanced technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), hold immense potential to aid in this
effort. AI can play a pivotal role in analyzing climate data, reducing carbon emissions, and
enhancing the efficiency of sustainable energy usage.
The discussions you engage in at the 2024 UN Youth Environmental Conference have far-reaching
consequences. As delegates, you are essential to shaping a sustainable future. I encourage you
to explore innovative solutions, leveraging advanced technologies and emerging fields such as AI
and E-Sports, to address climate change. The ideas and solutions you present will be instrumental
in unlocking a new era of environmental responsibility.
